So... apparently buying the game isn't good enough. PD is apparently "allowing" people to pay for cars/upgrades out of their pocket as well.

GTA Online allows this. I don't really see a problem with it. GT games are notorious for the amount of grinding required.

If it is to speed up the progress of the game, that's okay with me. If however, certain cars or aspects of the game require extra cash to obtain, I will be quite angry.

I see nothing wrong with this. It allows idiots with too much money and time to enjoy the game more without harming those of us who actually know that GT credits are literally the easiest thing to earn in that game for free.

Now, if they use this as an excuse to make credits suddenly quite difficult to obtain, then we have a problem.

Paying for DLC is one thing, that is additional content.

But paying to make the game easier? Why do it at all?

Its the same kind of clown that bought the Complete Unlock pack for Battlefield 3 vehicles. You got every single upgrade (upgrades that actually improved your changes on the field against other players) for real money.

That is sad. It ruins the point of having to work towards something.

That's disappointing... But, from the linked article, I assume they won't be necessary to get a specific car, as long as you can get the credits the normal way, so it's not that bad.

Was it GT3 were it took forever to get credits? I seem to recall about 30k a pop was the best you could get doing one of the test course races over, and over, and over, and over.

Is this coming to PS4?

Because people will buy it.

It doesn't really change my playing experience at all, but I will hate knowing that someone online may have just bought their car instead of working for it. I liked the fact that cash took a while to get, therefore people were more selective about what cars they bought.

You have to buy cheat codes now, weird. Iddqd and idkfa are relics of the past I suppose. I can't recall the last game I used a code on. Do they even exist anymore?

Agree completely about having to work towards something. I never bothered cheating unless I got completely stuck or had beaten the game and just wanted to breeze through it again. GT in particular was never a difficult game in which to accumulate virtual wealth. Maybe a little grinding, but you only improved your skills if anything.

I find it a lot better than putting certain cars behind a paid DLC.

At least, the option to earn the car for free is still viable by normal means.

This is true, but I don't see it replacing DLC.

Maybe, maybe not. But that complaint will be save for when that bridge is crossed.

Personally, I find it okay as long as it's not something that's detrimental to my overall experience.

However, I can see the appeal as to why some people would buy credit especially when someone simply doesn't have the time to grind all for all the credit but still wish to play online.

I'm not fond of the new direction but on the other hand, there was no shortcut in GT games.

Man it took forever to get my first million credits in GT5. Then I found out that grinding out the online chalenges was the easiest way to boost credits. But I still worked all the way up the game and it took a while but I enjoy having to strategically decide on what car to buy and running test sessions just to cycle the "used car dealer". I am kind of against starting with bad ass cars from the beginning but they did allow a transfer of credits when GT4 was released so you weren't piss poor at the start, that was assuming you had GT3 already. I want GT6, but it is going to have to wait for me as I am too broke to buy it now.

I did however end up buying the first DLC pack for GT5 and that was really only because I wanted Spa. But I don't know how I'll feel having to shell out more money on top of the game to get cars that I want. And I don't know how I feel about being able to purchase credits in the game, it seems like it goes against what the GT franchise is about. The grind is really all GT has for people who don't play online. I don't know I never really had a good time racing online but then again I have never played online with the fine folk of Oppo. After thanksgiving I should have my PS3 again so I can race against people, that is I guess until GT6 comes out.

You could buy tokens in Forza 4 for real cash and buy cars with those and as far as I'm aware, no one ever did.

I look at it the other way around. It's my game. I paid for it. Why do I have to 'unlock' crap before I can play it?

Too many crappy games disguise the fact that they're boring and samey by making you 'work' for the higher level content, because it's the only way they can make you drive the lower-level cars.

In a good game, all the cars are ones you might want to play at any point, so there's no need for that shit.

Today's equivalent of cheat codes involves tools you go find online to hack your game's save files.
